UK confirms attack on British convoy

A British diplomatic convoy was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade in the Libyan city of Benghazi on Monday, resulting in an injury, sources have said. A spokesman for the Foreign Office in London confirmed the attack and said all staff were accounted for. “We can confirm there was an attack on a British embassy convoy in Benghazi this afternoon,” the British Foreign Office spokesman said. “All staff are accounted for. We are liaising closely with the authorities.” The Foreign Office did not give any further details but a source in Libya has informed Arabs Today that the British Charge d’Affaires may have been injured. The source close to the British Embassy in Tripoli said the Libyan authorities sent a private jet to Benghazi to bring the Charge d’Affaires to the capital to receive emergency treatment following the incident. A meeting has taken place between British ambassador Dominic Asquith and the Prime Minister of Libya, Abdurrahim el-Keeb.
