
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) took part in the experts meeting for prison employees and decision-makers to prepare guidelines to manage inmate affairs and prevent cases of prison violence.
The UAE delegation was headed by Major Eng. Adel Juma’a Al Maskari, Head of the Strategy and Performance Development Section at the General Directorate of Punitive and Correctional Establishments at the Ministry of Interior, as well as one of the International Auditors Accredited by the American Correctional Association.
The meeting, which was held at the UN Vienna International Center from 1-3 June, discussed a number of inmate-related topics with the aim of preventing violence in prisons. Major Eng. Al Maskari awarded a commemorative shield to Mr. Aldo Lale-Demoz, Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
