The delegation of the Republican People's Party (CHP), Turkey's main opposition party, left Cairo on Thursday after a three-day visit to Egypt during which they held meetings with Egyptian officials and representatives of political parties, including the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party. Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy stressed, during his meeting with the delegation led by CHP deputy chairman Faruk Logoglu, that Egypt has no problems with the Turkish people and that relations between the two countries should be based on mutual respect and common interests away from any narrow ideology. The delegation also met with Grand Imam of Al Azhar Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayyeb who stressed that relations between the Egyptian and Turkish people are stronger and above any official and that Al Azhar attaches special care to Turkish students. The delegation stressed that the visit is meant to improve relations between the two peoples, rebuffing any insult to Al Azhar top imam. Source: MENA
