Tunis - Agencies

Tunisia’s ministry of interior lifted a curfew imposed last month on Gabes, sources said. The curfew was imposed on October 21 in four areas in the southern state of Gabes following clashed between police and protestors. The clashes came after the release exam results to recruit 50 technicians and 600 employees at Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT) on October 17. Protesters were demanding GCT recruit more people from Gabes as a form of compensation for their industrial pollution in the region. Tunisian Minister of Interior Ali Laeride on Thursday met with British ambassador to Tunisia Christopher O'Connor. Sources said the meeting was set to discuss security cooperation between the United Kingdom and Tunisia and aids the UK can offer to Tunisia for securing the country's sea borders.
