Tunis - Azhar Jarboui
Tunisia’s army has shelled mining areas in mountainous areas of Chammbi, close to the border with Algeria, security sources said. Military forces have been combing the area for suspected terrorists for days. On Wednesday, Prime Minister ali Larayedh visited forces after three landmines injured soldiers combing the area. Two officers were injured in the first mine blast, while another security officer was forced to have his leg amputated after a second device exploded near him. Kasserine province, close to the Algerian border, has witnessed a marked deterioration in security conditions as the army attempts to hunt down militants residing in the area. Tunisian Interior Minister Lotfi Ben Jeddo has previously reported more than 20 suspects of different Arab nationalities in Chammbi.
