Tunisia’s Interior Ministry has announced the arrest of an activist who allegedly supplied and supported terrorists in remote mountain regions, sources said on Tuesday. The defendant, who has not been named, has been accused of helping insurgents in the Shaabani mountains close to El Kosayerin City in Tunisia. The arrest comes days after a group of men were detained after intercepting a military convoy en route to Shaabani in protest against the arrest of another activist accused of smuggling and trading across the Algerian-Tunisian border. A Tunisian army sergeant was injured during the incident, after protesters threw stones at security forces. Twelve were arrested as a result.
