The UN Security Council must be ready to impose new sanctions on North Korea, President Donald Trump said Monday as he met with UN ambassadors in Washington.
"The Council must be prepared to impose additional sanctions on North Korean nuclear and ballistic missile programs," Trump said."This is a real threat to the world, whether we want to talk about it or not. North Korea is a big world problem, and it's a problem we have to finally solve." US officials have expressed growing concern over North Korea's nuclear and missile tests and its threats to attack the United States and its allies in Asia.
The United States has ordered a number of warships, headed by an aircraft carrier, to travel to the western Pacific near North Korea. They are due to arrive by the end of April.
