Khartoum - Abedalgoum Ashmeag
Chairman of Sudanese opposition umbrella group: the National Consensus Forces, Farouk Abu Eissa, has denied the accusations made against the alliance on Thursday, claiming they are a cover for foreign forces. Assistant to the Sudanese President, Nafie Ali Nafie stated that the opposition parties plan to tear apart Sudan, describing them as traitors. Speaking to Arabstoday, Eissa asserted that the allegations are far from valid. He added that opposition parties fought against colonialism and helped the nation achieve independence – meaning it is impossible for them to be agents for foreign affairs. Eissa in turn blamed the Sudanese ruling regime for the presence of 40,000 foreign soldiers currently stationed in Sudan. He said: “They know the truth about who is to blame. That’s why they accuse us to cover their failure. They failed to manage the economy and caused a famine.  They failed to maintain the diverse fabric of the people of Sudan – so they triggered war and conflict in Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile.”
