Khartoum - Abedalgoum Ashmeag
The Sudanese government has made ??a formal complaint to the UN Security Council, following the death of the leader of the breakaway group, Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) and his deputy on Sunday. Mohamed Bashar and his deputy, Suleiman Arko were killed during an attack four kilometres into Chadian territories by a faction of JEM. Five other members of Bashar's group were killed, along with a Chadian security officer and two cattle keepers working nearby. Sudan’s UN Ambassador Dafallah Al Haj, sent a letter to the Security Council asserting the assassination was carried out due to Beshr’s signing a peace agreement in Doha, Qatar last April.  on the attack that killed the field commander of the faction "Justice and Equality" who signed the peace agreement in Doha last April, Mohammed Beshr, and his deputy, Arko Suleiman and five others. " The Sudanese government states that the attack stands as evidence of JEM’s resistance to reach a political solution and negotiate peace. Sudan accused the movement placing obstacles in the path towards stability in the region. Al Haj urged the Security Council to condemn the crime and impose sanctions on the perpetrators.
