Khartoum - Abedalgoum Ashmeag
Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has warned against the threat of tribal conflicts developing in some areas of the country, and urged citizens to cooperate with the state. "The tribal conflicts in a number of Sudan's areas constitute the biggest threat to the country," al-Bashir said during a meeting of the Shura Council of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP), in Khartoum on Friday. The president accused certain groups of working to instigate the conflicts. Tribal clashes have intensified in Sudan's Darfur region in recent months. Over 40 people were killed and 45 others injured in fresh clashes between Misseriya and Salamat tribes in Central Darfur this week. Dozens were killed in similar clashes between al-Gimir and Bani Halba tribes in the state of South Darfur last month.
