Khartoum - Abed Algayoum Ashmeag
Sudan's Minister of Defence Marshal Abdelrahim Mohammed Hussein, head of the Sudanese delegation for negotiations with South Sudan arrived at the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa on Friday morning, to participate in a new round of negotiations between the two countries, this round is dedicated mainly to reach agreements on the security issues and demarking the border lines between both countries. Member of Sudan's delegation, ambassador Omar Dahab said in a press statement that head of the African Union mediation, Thabo Mbeiki has already met with the South Sudanese delegation, while he will meet the Sudanese delegation soon. Dahab emphasised his country's trust in the AU mediation, saying the Sudanese delegation is open minded to resume the negotiations with the objective of reaching a permanent state of peace with Sudan's southern neighbour. On the other hand, the information secretary of South Sudan's delegation, Atif Kiir, asserted his country's delegation has no pre-conditions for this round of negotiations, saying South Sudan accepts the UN Security Council relative resolutions as well as those of the AU to be a basis for finding solutions to the pending disputed files between the two countries. The latest round of negotiations have failed as the two countries couldn't reach any agreements about the security issues, as each country accuses the other of supporting rebel groups within its own borders. Sudan's former Minister of Finance Sayed Ali Zaki told Arabstoday earlier that it is for the good of both countries to settle their disputes as soon as possible,  as the current situation has been very harmful for the economy of both states, especially the dispute about oil revenues, which pose a main source of financial income the two states, but Zaki stressed that the problems in this sector has affected Sudan much more than the southern state, as the Sudan is the state which has the larger population of 30 million.
