Cairo – Akram Ali

Egypt's supreme military court has sentenced an officer, Ahmed Shouman, who participated in the January 25 revolution, to six years' imprisonment. Shouman allegedly conducted actions detrimental to the armed forces. He is reported to have filmed video clips which contained harsh criticism of the armed forces and expressed personal political views in telephone interviews with TV channels and press statements, all of which is prohibited for army officers. Shouman was also indicted for being absent from his unit and participating in demonstrations with civilians, violating martial law.
