Baghdad - Jaafar Al Nasrawi

Security has been stepped in Iraq's western province of Anbar following a spate of car bomb attacks in the northern city of Mosul, local security sources have confirmed. Five car bombs, including several detonated by suicide attackers, and rockets hit a police headquarters in the Iraqi city of Mosul on Monday, killing at least 24 people, mostly policemen and soldiers. A police source from Anbar told Arabstoday that security forces in the province had tightened security procedures in all regions of the province. "Security forces in the province have tightened security measures around the military and police headquarters, and the institutions of the state and public places," the source said. "These precautionary measures come from the fear of any terrorist acts such as those that hit Mosul yesterday," the individual speaking on condition of anonymity reiterated.
