Saudi Foreign Minister Saud el Faysal has called on the United Nations to end the current violence witnessed in Syria. The Saudi officials’ call came during a press conference which el-Faysal held with his Austrian counterpart. He stressed that the Syrian regime has failed to suspend the violence and asked, “What will the international community do to stop it?” He also emphasised the need to focus on combating terrorism. The Syrian Minister of Information Omran el Zoghby later retorted that the destiny and future of Syria would be decided by the countries’ leaders, in Damascus, “not in other countries”. He suggested that the Saudi official should himself work to combat terrorism, not to support it.
