
The Saudi Interior Ministry announced today that a border guard was killed and 10 others injured in an exchange of fire in a border area with Yemen.
The Security spokesman of the Interior Ministry was quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying ''at ten o'clock on the evening of Wednesday and during the performance by the border guards of their duties at one of the border control outpost in Alhosn center of Asir region, they were exposed to heavy fire from an opposite mountainous area inside the Yemeni border necessitating a reply in kind to the source of fire and control of the situation with the support of ground forces.
The exchange of fire resulted in the death of a corporal and the injury of 10 other border guards with non-life-threatening injuries. The injured were taken to hospital to receive the necessary medical treatment and care, SPA added.
