Fifty-eight prisoners from a variety of nationalities were released from the correctional and punitive institutions in the emirate of Fujairah before Eid Al Adha on the orders of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah.
The inmates were released on the basis of their good conduct and after ascertaining that they met the terms of amnesty.
The Ruler of Fujairah pardoned the prisoners, enabling them to rejoin their families for Eid.
Brig. Mohammed Al Tunaiji, Deputy Commander-General of Fujairah Police, thanked Sheikh Hamad for his humanitarian gesture and said he hoped the pardon would prompt the prisoners to start a new life as upstanding members of society.
