Cairo – Akram Ali

A proposal has been put to Egypt's State Council court demanding that the head of Egypt's ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) , the justice minister and the head of the presidential elections committee to impose medicals on presidential candidates. Tareq, the lawyer who submitted the case, said: "According to chapter 20 of the civil employees law issued in 1978, all those in governmental jobs must be medicaly approved for their positions by an official medical committee. As the president is an official employee, his health must be tested, especially as it is required for a president who takes responsibility in the country's recent situation." The lawyer emphasised that Egyptian labour law number 133 ,issued in 1981, made it necessary for institutions such as the ministry of foreign affairs and ministry of justice to conduct medical exams on their employees.
