
Bahraini authorities thwarted an attempt to release detainees from a prison in the Dry Dock area of the country. Ten suspects were arrested for planning an armed attack on the prison to facilitate the release of prisoners. In a statement, Bahrain's Interior Ministry said arms, ammunition and a plan for attacking the prison were seized from the suspects. Investigators found that the gunmen received financial support and training from militant groups in Iran, Lebanon and Iraq, the ministry said. Locals said that heavy security was deployed in and around the prison with fears of an impending attack. The prison in question has been In May, nine prisoners managed to escape from the detention centre when two cars blocked a vehicle transferring the prisoners to a local court.
