Kurdish Peshmerga forces have foiled an attack by Daesh militants on their sites in Sinjar in Ninawa province.
The Peshmerga - the official military forces of the autonomous region of Kurdistan – backed by the anti-Daesh international coalition, were able to foil the attack and engaged in armed battles with the group for nearly two hours at midnight, Kurdish sources said.
The sources said two senior Daesh leaders were killed along other lower-ranking members.
However, the terrorist group was successful in carrying out a suicide attack against Shiite Popular Mobilization forces in north of Samarra city, Salahdin.
The militants drove a booby-trapped car against the Shiite forces, leaving more than 10 injured.
