Palestinians laid to rest a Palestinian man who shod dead by Israel police over suspicion that he was the gunman in the attempted murder of a far-right rabbi in Jerusalem on Wednesday night.
Muataz Hijazi, 32-year-old former prisoner, was buried in occupied East Jerusalem after Israel handed over his body Thursday night.
Hijazi was shot on the roof of his home during a police raid in the city early on Thursday morning.
Neighbors described hearing a burst of gunfire at about 5.30am as armed police swamped the area.
Hijazi’s aunt Taghreed said he had been beaten before being shot, contradicting the Israeli police account.
