Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt Gamal Al Shobaky expressed his thanks to the Egyptian authorities for their cooperation with Palestinian pilgrims at the Cairo International Airport.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the Palestinian embassy in Cairo said that the first flight, carrying 798 Palestinian pilgrims from Gaza strip, left Cairo's airport at dawn.
The flights bound for King Abdel Aziz Airport are operating until Friday morning, the statement added.
About 2,900 Palestinian pilgrims, coming from the Gaza strip or residing in Egypt, are expected to travel this year to perform this year's Hajj (pilgrimage).
