The Palestinian Cabinet welcomed Tuesday the Egypt-brokered ceasefire proposal and commended Egypt’s efforts to protect the Palestinian people.
In a session under Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, the cabinet discussed the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and decided to set up a relief fund with the purpose of offering urgent humanitarian and medical assistance, including food and fuel, to the Gaza population. The cabinet called on the Palestinian civil society as well as Arab and friendly states to contribute to this fund, WAFA reported.
The Council also decided to form a task force comprising of representatives from the government and international humanitarian organizations operating in Palestine to coordinate the entry of relief assistance to the besieged enclave.
The Council affirmed that following President Mahmoud Abbas’ directions, the government would exploit all available capabilities to help meet the needs of Gaza population, alleviate their suffering and reinforce their steadfastness in the face of ongoing Israeli aggression.
