The Algerian prime minister, Ahmed Ouyahia is representing the Algerian president, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in a meeting of the special committee of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU). The special committe is scheduled to take place in Cotonou (Benin). This announcement, was reported in a statement by the Algerian foreign affairs ministry on Sunday. The statement read: "Prime minister Ahmed Ouyahia, will travel on 14 May to Cotonou (Benin) to represent the president of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in the works of the second meeting of Heads of State and Government of the African Union."  The statement added that: "this meeting is the second on of its kind to take place, the first one that took place in March. The meeting will discuss issues relating to the election of the next members of the African Union Commission". The recommendations of the Cotonou meeting will be discussed at the next African Union summit, which will take place in Lilongwe (Malawi), next June. The special committee of the African Union, of which Algeria is a member, was established during the regular session of the 18th summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
