
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the peace agreement signed recently in Kabul between the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Hezb-e Islami,.
Reiterating the OIC’s principled position in supporting and contributing to durable peace, security and stability in Afghanistan, the Secretary General, Iyad Ameen Madani, expressed the hope that the peace agreement would pave the way to restore peace to the country.
He indicated that the Agreement proves that the way to resolving the conflict in Afghanistan can only be through dialogue, and not by military means and violence.
The OIC Chief expressed the hope that all other groups would also shun violence and facilitate working on finding a peaceful solution to the unjustifiable bloodshed and violence in the country.
