Iraqi, the political bloc of Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlaq, slammed on ?Monday the initiative launched by the presidency to achieve future targets set by an upcoming National Conference.? It said the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is attempting to fabricate crises and create a ?tense atmosphere in order to cover up for its failures.? Leading member of the Front, Hamza Alkertani said to Arab Today: “The National Conference is a lie. There isn’t any meeting.” “The government doesn’t have the ?intention to resolve the crises or find any solutions. It is working on fabricating them to cover ?up its failure,”? Alkertani said. “Since the very first moment he received his position, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki ?adopted the dictatorship approach and worked on grabbing all important positions, specially the security ?positions. He went even further by taking control of the Central Bank and the ?Iraqi judiciary.”? Alkertani added. “The government is trying to use the time factor by launching initiatives and spreading ?rumours about the existence of a National Conference, and consequently there will be a delay,” ? he said, adding that “the government wants to drag the Iraqi people into civil war.”? Over two months ago, the Iraqi presidency launched an initiative for social reconciliation that aims to ?hold a national meeting between all political factions to find solutions to the deteriorating security ?and political situations.? Meanwhile the al-Iraqiya coalition renewed its calls to withdraw confidence from the Maliki, following the deterioration of security. Al-Iraqiya politician Haidar al-Mulla, noted in a statement the need to take a clear position on what he described as "al-Maliki’s failure" in handling the security issue, adding that “keeping Prime Minister and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Nouri al-Maliki in his position is a real threat to the lives of Iraqi people, and their freedoms.”
