Ousted president Mohamed Morsi was airlifted to Borg El-Arab Prison in Alexandria on Monday following his first trial hearing in Cairo, MENA has exclusively learned from a high-level Interior Ministry source. Alexandria Security Director Amin Ezzeddin and Assistant Interior Minister for Prison Affairs Mohamed Rateb are currently at Borg El-Arab Prison awaiting the landing of the helicopter that carried Morsi from the trial venue at New Cairo’s Police Academy to the prison’s heliport, the source told MENA. Morsi and 14 other defendants from the Muslim Brotherhood group stood trial today over charges of inciting violence, killing and thuggery acts that took place in the surroundings of Ittihadiya presidential palace on December 5, 2012.
