Rabat – Redouane Mabchour

Moroccan authorities may extradite individuals wanted by the Ivory Coast government, according to reports in the Ivorian media. The news comes after the recent meeting between Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara, and Morocco's King Mohammed VI in Abidjan. An Ivorian newspaper is reporting that Ouattara asked King Mohammed VI to extradite the former Director-General of the Port of Abidjan, Marcel Gossio, widely regarded as a loyalist of former President Laurent Gbagbo. Gbagbo was arrested two years ago on charges of attempting to destabilise the country and topple Ouattara's regime. The newspaper reports said that the Moroccan King may grant Ouattara's request. Ghana recently agreed to hand over three Ivorians to authorities in Abidjan following a visit from Ouattara. King Mohammed VI spent three-day in the Ivory Coast between March 19 and 22, during which he held talks with Ivorian officials about joint, regional and international cooperation. The two leaders agreed to hold a fifth Morocco-Ivory Coast Joint Committee Meeting in June.
