Rabat – Judy Sabbagh

Abdul Latif Almanoni, an adviser of to Morocco’s King Mohammed VI, met with Fatah and Hamas representatives on Wednesday, following a Palestinian conference in Skhirat aiming to bolster official Moroccan support for Palestine’s interfactional reconciliation. The meeting, which comes days after Morocco’s Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane also met with Palestinian representatives, was reportedly given the blessing of the King himself, well-informed sources told Arabstoday. Palestinian factions met in Skhirat throughout December and January, resulted in the Rabat Declaration, which called on Morocco and King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the al-Quds Committee, to mobilise official support for the Palestinian cause. Almanoni’s meeting with Palestinian factions marks his first media appearance since his appointment as royal adviser in 2011.
