Suez - Said Abdullah

Military forces were called upon to intervene in clashes between anti-government demonstrators and security forces in Egypt's canal governorate of Suez. Fifty-two citizens, including 12 security officials, were injured in violent clashes on Friday. A military unit was called upon to control the deteriorating situation in the coastal town, after a number of buildings were set on fire. Demonstrators stormed the building of Suez governorate and burnt down the education directorate and administrative supervision building. The security forces used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, who retaliated by throwning stones. Health directorate sent a large number of ambulances to transfer the injured people to the public hospital. An official confirmed that 52 citizens were treated for injuries. The residents living nearby left their homes due to the effects of excessive tear gas used by the security forces.
