Security sources in northern Sinai, Egypt, claim a wine-seller was killed during an armed attack on a cafeteria on Monday. The four unidentified gunmen are thought be Islamic militants. A security source said a black car pulled up with four men who proceeded to attack the cafeteria, which is known to sell alcoholic drinks in Zelal Al-Nakheel on the International Road. The wine-seller, Rami Ahmed Ahmed, 28, was shot twice in the chest. The investigation is on-going but the source added that it is likely that Islamic militants are behind the incident, as the seller is from AL Sharquia province, ruling out tribal dispute. Prior to the attack, unidentified gunmen opened fire on Arish Seaport Police check point at Abu Sakl district in El Arish, but stationed security forces were able to thwart the assault. A security source said that the group of armed men fled after a mobile patrol car gave chase. One of the assailants was injured during the clashes and transferred to El Arish General Hospital. The police managed to seize the car and is currently interrogating one of the attacker’s.
