Tunis - Nabil Zaghdoud
Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki has stated that insulting the national flag was tantamount to "an assault to the National unity of the country". "I will never let anybody to declare himself as an official representativeof the nation or Islam," said Marzouki during a speech at the University of Manouba (25km west of Tunis) where a Salafist student had earlier brought down the Tunisian flag and raised the Al-Tahrir party's flag instead. Marzouki in the ceremony saluted the national flag and honoured student Khawala Al-Rashidi for her attempt to prevent the Salafist student from bringing down the flag.
