The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked the Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations to file an urgent complaint against Israel at the Security Council. The move follows a recent upsurge in Israeli activity over Lebanese airspace, as warplanes head towards Syrian targets. Caretaker Minister for Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Adnan Mansour telephoned Nawaf Salam, Lebanon’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, on Saturday night. Mansour told Salam that the ongoing Israeli overflights "flagrantly violate Lebanese sovereignty and international resolutions, notably resolution 1701." Resolution 1701 resolved the 2006 conflict between Lebanon and Israel.
