Unidentified gunmen assassinated at dawn of Monday a leading Houthi official, Sada Aden website reported.
Gunmen driving a motorcycle opened fire at Zeid Ali Mutawekel while traveling in his car in Tunis street in the capital.
Led by Abdul Malik al Houthi, the Houthi group succeeded in taking over the Yemeni government as of April 2015 and retaining control of Yemen's capital, Sanaa, and the parliament.
Backed by forces loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh, the Houthis are now in a conflict with the Yemeni government which is supported by Popular Resistance Committees, local tribesmen and an Arab coalition.
