Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said Friday at a press conference on the sidelines of a meeting of the General Assembly at the United Nations that efforts will continue to hold Geneva 2 Conference to resolve the Syrian crisis politically, and to advance the peace process in the Middle East, adding that all incidents relating to the use of chemical weapons must be considered based on facts not assumptions. The United States and Russia have agreed a resolution, to be voted by the U.N. Security Council on Friday, on destroying Syria's chemical weapons. "We cannot impose a decision on the chemical weapons in Syria, and we cannot solve contemporary issues except through the United Nations, as military interventions would break down the world." Lavrov welcomed decision taken by Damascus to join the treaty on the non-proliferation of chemical weapons. He expected a resolution by the UN to eliminate all chemical weapons from Syria.
