King Abdullah returns to Jordan after Egypt trip

Jordan's King Abdullah returned to Amman from Cairo on Saturday evening after a meeting with Egypt's interim President Adly Mansour. The king, the first head of state to visit Egypt since the ouster of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi, discussed ways of increasing cooperation, along with developments in Egypt and the wider region. During the meeting at the Ittihadiya presidential palace, both leaders vowed to develop relations in several fields. King Abdullah told reporters that Jordan supports the will of the Egyptian people, and would stand alongside its "sister country" as it looks to overcome the current political conflict. He emphasised the importance of political groups in Egypt working together to reach consensus. The two leaders discussed the developments in the Middle East peace process, especially the efforts to resume ?negotiations between the Israelis  and Palestinians regarding the two-state solution. Jordan's king highlighted his country's efforts to ?establish an independent Palestinian state on the Palestinian national territory, with Jerusalem as its ?capital. The Jordanian king and the Egyptian president also spoke about the Syrian conflict, with the king reiterating the desire for a comprehensive solution ?that ends the suffering of the Syrian people and maintains the unity of their territory.?
