Cairo – Akram Ali
Egyptian foreign minister Mohamed Kamel Amr has said that Egypt will not accept any aggressive threats or hostile remarks by Israel about Sinai and rejected any Iranian threats to the Gulf States. Amr said in an interview with the Egyptian newspaper El-Akhbar that the security forces were capable of deterring any attack on Sinai.  He added: “The security of the Gulf is an extension of Egypt's security and the Egyptians abroad have the support of the foreign ministry." Amr stated that the Egyptian position on Syria is clear and firm: "An immediate end to the bloodshed is required". He described Egyptian-Saudi relations as "confusing" because it is |historic, strong and strategic". "This kind of relationship always continues, regardless of any situation that may occur. The recent events have proved that this relation can quickly overcome any difficulties," he said. Amr said “Contact is continuing between the two leaderships as there is ongoing communication between me and Prince Saud al-Faisal, Saudi minister of foreign affairs. Our last meeting in Jeddah is the best proof that this relation is firm.  We discussed during the meeting many issues such as bilateral relations and the situation in the region.”
