Israeli forces kill Palestinian in northern West Bank

 Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian man in the northern West Bank late Monday, Israeli media and the army said.
The Israeli news site Ynet claimed that a Palestinian gunman opened fire at an Israeli police officer, hitting him in the leg, near the Tapuach (Zaatara) checkpoint in southern Nablus.
Israeli soldiers returned fire, killing the Palestinian, Ynet said.
An Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed the incident, saying that a border policeman was lightly wounded by the Palestinian’s fire and that soldiers responded by shooting and killing him.
