Rabat - Hussein Ahmed Idrissi

This year, Israel will not participate in the fourth international forum MEDays, organised by the Amadeus Institute from 16th to 19th November in Tangiers, Morocco after the unwelcoming reaction of the nation’s media and society to the participation of former Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni at the last session. President of the Amadeus Institute said Ibrahim Al Fassi Fihri: “The forum meets at a year full of events that have influenced the international scene. Also, it features a significant number of participants, up to 200, including 80 heads of states and governments.” Fihri, who is the son of Moroccan Foreign Minister Taib Fassi Fihri, added in a press conference: “Israel is the only one who did not participate. This year, we will focus on the Arab revolutions, those revolutions that overthrew dictatorial regimes in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and still interact in other areas such as Yemen and Syria.” “This forum will attempt to provide suggestions and answers about the financial support of the change in the Arab region. Along with other topics, which are equally important such as: global warming and the economic crisis in Eurozone,” Fihri continued. About the forum participants, Fihri announced the likes of Mahmoud Jibril, former member of the transitional government in Libya, Egyptian Foreign Minister, Tunisian Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Arab League, Chief Palestinian Negotiator Saeb Erekat and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, due to the role of Turkey in the Arab Spring. Moreover, Fihri confirmed the participation of heads of central banks in Morocco, Nigeria and Asian countries to highlight the financial focus. The forum will also discuss the impact of China on the African continent and the China-Africa cooperation during the last decade of this millennium. Trying to explain the participation in the fourth forum MEDays, which will be held a week before the Moroccan elections, Fihri said “This forum is linked to Morocco's credibility in the international arena.”
