Baghdad - Jaafar Nassrawi

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki accused two major leaders in the Iraqi army of being behind Tuesday's bombings that killed 60 and wounded more than 200. The Al-Mada newspaper on Thursday reported Maliki saying: “Two senior army officers are behind Tuesday’s bombings...there will be no 100 per cent stability in Iraq as long as some accused of crimes are working as politicians.” He added that “the law should be applied to any criminal whatever his position”. “The political process is going on and Iraq is witnessing significant improvement day after day in all aspects,” Maliki said. “The Arab summit will be conducted on time and with the participation of Arab leaders, and this in itself is an achievement," said the prime minister. However, Iraqi security sources said "the armed forces were able to perform a security operation that included a village south of Mosul and 400 kilometres north of Baghdad that resulted in the arrest of 32 people".
