Baghdad - Jaafar Nassrawi

Iraqi Cabinet held its regular meeting on Monday in Basra governorate, 590 km south of Baghdad,  to discuss the governorate's situation. Maliki already said in a speech on Sunday during a meeting with a number of elders in Basra governorate that the Iraqi government will hold a meeting on Monday in Basra International Hotel, asserting that “it will discuss the problems of Basra governorate and its residents’ sufferings.” Basra's residents suffer from deteriorating service such as electricity service degradation, and accumulation of wastes in residential areas, water scarcity and pollution, as well as clogged sewer networks in some areas. Dozens of projects have been carried out in Basra during the past few years, but they never succeeded to resolve the problems.
