Three bombings in the Iraqi city of Kirkuk, have left a number of people dead, with many more injured, it was revealed today. Informed security sources told Arabstoday that a car bomb exploded near the Shiite shrine of Om el-Banin, while another bomb simultaneously went off nearby, the details of which are yet to be revealed. The news comes after an earlier bombing took place near the security director Taha Salah el-Din’s house. The consecutive bombings also follow an earlier incident, when a motorcycle exploded in the centre of the city, killing one person and injuring 15 - including two policemen. The exact death toll of the bombings has not yet been revealed. Kirkuk has seen rising tensions dominate the city following clashes between military forces and Peshmerga troops on January 16. Bombings have since become increasingly common. The last major attack was against the security directorate on February 3, which killed one person and injured 120.
