Security is high at Suez port and along Suez canal waterway to secure the passage for a number of French as well as Israeli tourists arriving at Ain Sukhna Port. Joint army and police forces imposed a state of heightened security along the waterway on land, by sea and in the canal's perimeter from Port Tawfik Shipyard at the mouth of a gulf to the Genayen area on the border of Ismailia province. The operation was arranged in coordination with the Second Field Army and security directorates of Canal cities to secure the passage for the French frigate Courbet as part of the southbound convoy en route to a French base in the Indian Ocean. The frigate was accompanied by a Suez Canal Authority tugboat throughout its 14-hour journey through the canal. Security was also heightened at the Ain Sukhna Port to secure the arrival of 2,431 mostly Israeli tourists coming from the Port of Eilat on board AIDAmar ferry. Army forces cordoned the port platform and passengers' terminal.
