Beirut - Georges Chahine

Palestinian Movement Hamas' representative in Beirut, Ali Baraka, said the group has called on different powers in Lebanon, including Hezbollah, to help the people of Syria, without directly getting involved in the conflict. Baraka’s statement follows demands made by Hamas to Hezbollah to withdraw its fighters from Syria. The group instead has requested leaders to "use their weapons against Israel." Hamas has blamed Hezbollah for "increasing sectarian polarisation" in the Middle East by getting involved in Syria's civil war. The movement has stressed the importance of helping Syrians achieve the freedom they need, and have called for unity between Arab countries.
