Palestine’s reconciliation agreement between political organisations, Hamas and Fatah is expected to be implemented this week, a member from Fatah’s central committee told Arabstoday. Nabil Shaath said, “Following positive achievements in the country, including Gaza’s triumph after Israel’s attack as well as obtaining observer state in the UN, Palestinian officials are now very serious in achieving this reconciliation and are looking to implement it immediately.” Shaath added, “Everyone is optimistic about Fatah and Hamas’ meeting and we believe Palestinians have no choice but reconciliation." The Election Commission will begin renewing the voter’s database in Gaza, Shaath explained, adding that consultations to form a new Palestinian government will be headed by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
