Tunis – Nabil Zaghdoud

Leader of Tunisian Ennahda party Rachid Ghannouchi stated on Sunday, during a meeting with Bahraini Shura Council members Journalist Samira Ragab and Writer Tarik Al-Amer, that the incidents in Bahrain are “irrelevant to the Arab Spring”, considering the only solution was to “walk out of the crisis through national dialogue.” Ghannouchi told the Bahraini MPs that he understands the nature of the incidents in Bahrain and the sectarian strife arising from it, stressing that an unconditional national dialogue including all political forces in the country to reach consensus is the ideal way to end the crisis. Ennahda leader expressed his hope that “Bahrain would overcome its current ordeal and sectarian trap, and would be able to contribute to causes in the Arab and Islamic nation.” Ghannouchi’s position is in line with Culture Minister Mahdi Mabrouk’s statement, who, while meeting with the two Bahraini MPs, stressed that the incidents in Bahrain have nothing to do with the Arab Spring, and that they only aim to destabilise the country's security.
