The leader of the Lebanese Forces party Samir Geagea has accused Hezbollah of threatening the Lebanese state and called for elections to exclude the party. Geagea said that "the implication of Hezbollah's fighting in Qasir in Syria is very serious,” as it “destroys elements of the Lebanese state.” The leader accused Hezbollah of establishing a state of its own, and pushing back elections so that they can fight in Syria. "We want a resolution to rescue Lebanon, and it starts with forming a government that does not involve Hezbollah," said Geagea. He stated that the elections should be conducted on time, and expressed his refusal to allow a suggested two year extension. "I felt from the beginning that there was a manipulation of the subject of election law for the benefit of Hezbollah to postpone the elections,” he said. Geagea's remarks came during an interview on Objectively broadcast on MTV. The leader said that a new government should be formed by President Michel Sleiman and Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam, as any contribution from Hezbollah could be seen as an endorsement of their actions in Syria. "Hezbollah policy takes Lebanon to the abyss, and we have to either go on with it or face it, and I hope the FPM reconsiders its alliance with Hezbollah.” Geagea also called for the introduction of Orthdox and mixed religious law."Lebanon needs a law that gains approval of the parliamentary majority,” he said further explained that the mixed concept is a combination of draft laws that appease different religions, and through establishing the laws there will be “improved Christian representation.”
