The French Ministry of Defence has offered to train Yemeni air forces to bring an end to the spate of Yemeni military aircraft crashes. The move comes after Yemeni authorities confirmed they would move their military airbases from near residential neighbourhoods to the outskirts of major cities. On Monday, Yemen's senior military commander Brigadier Rashid al-Janad met his French counterpart attaché Colonel Jerome in Sanaa. The duo discussed measures to increase cooperation between the two air forces. Janad highlighted the importance of working with French forces to gain an insight into scientific, academic, and military research. The French military official declared his country's support for Yemeni forces, and pledged to provide military training. A Yemeni military source told Arabstoday that the meeting was part of Yemen's efforts to purchase French fighter jets in the future.
