Alexandria – Nessrine Fouad

The Estshary Society for Legal Support and Training has declared a severe shortage of judges and officials observing the referendum process in Alexandria. The group said the shortage delayed the opening of several polling stations. They reported that numerous judges responsible for overseeing the vote directed voters to approve the constitution. El-Shatby Mechanical School saw a verbal row between voters and the judge overseeing their station, due to him directing them to vote on its approval. The society also reported the absence of specific election ink at numerous stations. The report also mentioned that Hedaya Mustafa Ahmed, department director at the state-run Al Ahram school, was detained and her ID card seized when she refused officials' attempts to direct her to vote in approval of the draft constitution.
