The Egyptian Constitution Party Chairman Mohamed ElBaradei called for the Egyptian people to vote "No" in the second phase of the referendum “for the sake of Islamic law”. In a televised speech ElBaradei said: "We want Sharia law to rule and therefore we will vote No." He claimed that: "the Constitution is a distorted entity and the ballot is defective because it is tainted by fraud.” Stressing his optimism with the first phase results, ElBaradei called for a return to the constitution of 1971 and the formation of a technocratic government. He concluded "the ambiguous relationship between Al-Azhar and the judiciary stated in the constitution will get us in to lots of trouble."
