Cairo - Akram Ali

A number of demonstrators in Cairo’s iconic Tahrir Square have welcomed the initiative to open the Square for traffic movement on Friday. Egypt’s Interior Ministry will set a timetable to remove the concrete barriers from the streets of Cairo. Leaders of Egypt’s Interior Ministry held a meeting with representatives of the revolutionary who organised a strike in Tahrir Square in the presence of the media presenter Amr Elithy. The latter submitted an initiative to open the Square, whilst the Interior Ministry pledged to protect the demonstrators. A number of officials attended the meeting, including General Gamal abde-Aal, General Ali el-Demerdash, Brigadier Adel el-Tunisi, Brigadier Hany Guirguis, and Brigadier Ayman Helmy.
